Construction Safety Manager

Location:  Peachtree City, Georgia

Status:  Full-time/Salary, Exempt

Recognized as an expert in industrial refrigeration systems, Alta Refrigeration has been in business since 1975. We specialize in the design and installation of field-erected, refrigeration systems for food processing plants, multi-temperature distribution centers, food service centers and cold storage facilities.  In 2013, we introduced our modular industrial refrigeration system as an efficient alternative to low charge ammonia refrigeration systems. Our industry-leading EXPERT line delivers the same refrigeration power as custom-built ammonia systems while using no water with the same annual power consumption. This synthetic refrigerant solution is the latest addition to our product line and has helped our customers reduce long term operational costs including power, water usage, and maintenance.

The Construction Safety Manager will develop processes, systems and procedures to ensure the success of the company safety program.  Position will lead safety management program efforts, obtain/maintain regulatory compliance to promote an injury and incident free workplace. This person will work directly and collaboratively with operations and functional leadership to successfully integrate Safety processes and procedures that promote a safe workplace.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • In cooperation with Operational management, develop safety strategy reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents
  • Develop, implement, and manage company–wide safety programs, policies and procedures in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Conduct jobsite visits to drive safe workplace initiatives and requirements
  • Provide safety support to field management, manufacturing management, and senior leadership. Provide assistance and guidance on safety issues to make recommendations
  • Identify safety training needs, develop training content and ensure training is completed and recorded
  • Design and implement effective metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern and drive accountability
  • Conduct compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to company safety program
  • Develop, enforce, maintain, and inspect all relevant safety files, OSHA 300 logs and documentation
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify compliance to establish safety presence and provide support.
  • Champion a safe work culture
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as customers, general contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead Safety Committee and conduct quarterly meetings for purposes of reviewing and evaluating safety goals and objectives
  • Attend Captive Risk Control Workshops to stay current with OSHA regulations and safety best practices

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety; science, environmental, engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of state and federal regulatory compliance experience in OSHA regulations and construction & manufacturing safety programs
  • Experience in industrial refrigeration industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISNetworld a plus
  • Experience working with SiteDocs or other online workplace safety management solutions a plus

Controls Project Engineer

The Controls Project Engineer will manage controls projects from design to installation working closely with customers and subcontractors. This position will also be responsible for developing and designing electrical panels for our modular industrial refrigeration units.

Project Controls duties and responsibilities include:
• Coordinate with customers to develop/refine a scope of work to satisfy customer needs
• Design/Generate project electrical drawing details for installation
• Perform program configuration to customer’s application
• Coordinate with outside Electrical subcontractors to complete project scope
• Coordinate project schedules with customers, subcontractors, and ALTA personnel
• Assist onsite installations and startups
• Test and troubleshoot electrical control and power circuits using digital multimeters
• Develop/maintain training procedures and documentation for customer training
• Perform customer training on the ALTA control system software and hardware
• Performed technical support as it pertains to the control system

Electrical Panel Shop Operation duties and responsibilities include:
• Design electrical panel details/documents for panel technicians
• Use AutoCAD to complete layouts and electrical circuit drawings
• Produce bill of material from electrical panel drawings
• Develop/maintain panel shop procedures and control system documentation for quality control and employee training
• Update controller and other equipment firmware
• Directly support panel technician questions and technical needs
• Propose component selections from manufacturer’s catalog based on application
• Oversee, support, and document all control panel testing
• Support and implement safety improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Be familiar with the correct tools needed to complete tasks (hand & power).
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment technical manuals and operating instructions
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

The Project Engineer will plan, oversee, and document all aspects of the construction projects assigned. This position will work closely with sales engineers and senior management to ensure the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, within budget and completed to the quality specified. Duties will vary based on the phase of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare required documentation for each project
  • Develop permit and coordination drawings
  • Maintain the project quality files and documentation systems
  • Order materials and equipment for field crew
  • Coordinate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to order materials and ensure work is performed as specified
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Responsible for remote and onsite support
  • Other related duties as assigned

Industrial Refrigeration Service Technician

Location: Position will service accounts across the U.S.

Status: Full-time/Hourly, Non-exempt

We are looking for experienced refrigeration technicians that can travel to the customer site across the U.S. to diagnose and solve their problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Refrigeration repair and maintenance support to industrial accounts in the food and beverage, refrigerated storage, pharmaceutical, and gas processing industries
  • Perform routine and emergency service on commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment commonly found in industrial applications.
  • Maintain and manage truck inventory and / or job tool boxes in an accurate, neat and orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (If applicable).
  • Expected to achieve RETA CARO certification.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in commercial industrial refrigeration service
  • Experienced in servicing a wide range of equipment including central ammonia/Freon systems, chillers, HVAC, ventilation, etc.
  • EPA 1 and 2 or universal certification
  • Valid Driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Physically able to climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift objects up to fifty pounds
  • Must be able to pass physical examination and Respirator Fit Testing
  • Working knowledge of screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting of common types of industrial refrigeration systems and control alarm systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures and governing requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and highly motivated
  • Self-starter
  • Basic computer skills (electronic documentation)
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with limited instruction
  • Available to travel up to 25%
  • Availability to be on call nights and/or weekends as required
  • Ammonia Refrigeration Service experience a plus but not required, will train the right candidate.
  • RETA certification preferred
